Everyone who has a gmail account automatically has a Picasa web albums account. On the Google.ca main page, click on "More" (top left of page), "Photos" and sign in to Picasa with your gmail account. If you know how Picasa works, upload your photos, send me the link to your Picasa albums at E-mail and I will link your Photo site to the ARHS Reunion 2010 web albums site as a Favourite. This means that if you click on CURRENT PHOTO ALBUMS in the left column of our website, you will see your album listed as a "favourite" in the right hand column of our Picasa photo page.

Russ Powell has graciously offered to put the skills honed in his long career as a radio announcer to work providing the background music for our reunion. Here he is at home in Nova Scotia having a great time transferring his
collection of top hits from the 50s and 60s from LPs to CDs for our entertainment.

Do you have a "special" song from back then (perhaps it was playing on your first date or maybe it brings back memories of that first kiss) that didn't make it near the top of the charts? Let Russ know and he'll try to include it in his reunion repertoire.

Corner Brook Then and Now

Things have changed in Corner Brook over the years. The high school, instead of being all alone on the top of the hill, has buildings all around it.





West Street is modernized with paving stones in place of the concrete sidewalks that we strolled up and down all those weekend nights so many years ago.


And we, like any modern city, have walking trails in several areas.

Students now can walk from West Street to the school along a well developed path with the Glynmill Inn Pond open and in full view.

Of course we walked to school that way too, but our paths were forged by running feet in a rush to make the last bell. And any views of the pond were through the trees.

Recently, Coleman's opened Corner Brook's newest modern grocery store. It's a beautiful place...high ceilings, lots of space, located not too far from the school...in one of our most frequented hangouts....

Humber Gardens - the place was like our second home! We got to know its every nook and cranny over the years! Ice skating as kids, hockey, then roller skating every Saturday night. We spent a lot of time there cheering on our team in its battles against Regina and boy did we love those Royals games!

The school, West Street, the stadium - the triangle of existence for us back then. Things are different today as we keep pace with the modern world. However, the old places are just as vivid and alive in our fond memories of "back when...".

We know you've been thinking about it for a while! Reunion 2010 is going to be the best Amalgamated reunion yet and you don't want to miss out on any of the fun! Why should you? After all, the reunion is for you. Planning an event like a high school reunion is almost as much fun as the big night itself. Meeting with old friends and working together to get the job done. Thinking back and "chewin' the fat". It can't get much better than that! So when the planning meetings come around, make it a point to be there. Come join in the fun!

Do you remember all those summer days and nights during our high school years? What a wonderful time of life it was!! And what better place could we have spent our teenage years in but Corner Brook? Bright sunshine, warm summer breezes, good friends and lots to do! Roller skating! Strolling down West Street! Swimming at Margaret Bowater Park! Or just hanging out with our friends!

We hope this short video taken from "Crow Hill" triggers great memories for you!

Not everything we learned in high school was taught in the classroom. Many a lesson was learned back then from experiences outside those hallowed halls. Before class, after class and on weekends, many guys would passionately pit bodies and minds against fearsome opponents at the hockey rink. Character was formed and friendships were forged.

For some, the passion remains.

After all the years (now in their 60s), playing about 90 games a season, these former students still agree 'every day's a great day for hockey'.

On the ice or off "friends are the most important ingredient in this recipe of life" and these hockey players and their friends find the time once a week for extra

Meeting new people with similar interests. Gaining confidence in ourselves through new experiences. Learning to rely on ourselves and gaining the tools to stand on our own two feet so that we can forge our own lives.

So many firsts.... First driver's license! First car! First kiss! First love! Coming of age!

Couldn’t sharing this collective experience at that particular time in our lives be 'what it is about going to high school with someone that makes you feel you’re automatically friends for life'?
